Christmas 2023 channel update

Christmas 2023 channel update

Nov 21, 2023

Only a few weeks to go before Christmas, and I’m already planning next year’s travel series. My chosen destinations will be revealed on my channel shortly, but after three years of travelling to fairly nearby destinations, it’s time to start getting more adventurous and travelling a little further afield. If you follow my transport channel, then you would have seen that I’ve uploaded some different travel based content, where I challenge myself using numerous types of public transport. I had a few problems crossing London, when I travelled from Stansted to Heathrow and secondly getting around the four capitals of the UK inside 24-hours! That was quite an adventure, and one which could so easily have ended quite differently, as you will see as the video progresses. However, it's been two months since I completed my last two travel series visiting the Netherlands and Northern Spain and I'm already suffering withdrawal symptoms from travelling. I’m just itching to get out and about again. My focus this year was centred around Roman history, firstly visiting the Roman sites of Nimes, which were amazing, especially the amphitheatre and the temple or Maison Carrée as it's known. Visiting these two historic locations gave me the taste for finding other similar locations, exploring more intact or well-preserved Roman sights. Therefore, visiting Lugo and La Coruña in Spain was a natural choice. The Roman walls of Lugo, or Roman Lucas Augusti as it was once known, were sights to behold. The most complete and perfectly preserved Roman walls anywhere in the world. The ruined remains of Lucas Augusti didn't disappoint either, when I visited the remains of a Temple of Mithras, a Domus and Roman museum.

La Coruña or Roman Brigantium, was another city with a fascinating history. The jewel in the crown, was the Heracles Tower, a perfectly preserved Roman Lighthouse that continues working since it was built, over 1900 years ago. Exploring the interior of the tower was so special, the views from the top equally impressive. I do like my Roman history, and I have plans to visit more Roman sights outside of Italy in the coming years including Palmyra and Caeserea.

I can't end this short news update, without mentioning my memorable visit to the Netherlands last September. In particular visiting  the famous bridge in Arnhem and the Oosterbeek War Cemetery. Ever since I first watch the 1977 film ‘A Bridge too Far’ I’ve wanted to Visit Arnhem and finally I have. The Netherlands is one of my favourite countries to visit and another memorable few days exploring, as you will see, when this series previews in January. I hope you enjoy the Christmas season and I’ll be in a position to let everyone know more about next year’s travels shortly in an upcoming video on my channel and through social media. If you have any suggestions as to where I should go, then please let me know, as I do like to discover something different.
