Kids need arty books! 🎨📚

Galleries and museums are amazing places for kids to learn about art, but sometimes (like most of the last year) it just isn’t possible to get to them. But don’t despair, there are always arty books! And they can help kids enjoy and learn about art in all sorts of different ways.

Some of my absolute all-time favourite books are arty ones, and while in the past kids’ art books could often be a bit po-faced, that’s changing SO much. There are lots of fabulous offerings – from draw-in activity books to kid-friendly artist biographies – to hook children’s attention and let them know art is FUN and definitely for them.

And if you’re after a funny but fact-packed book about great modern artworks and the stories behind them, I’ve written one! It’s called Modern Art Explorer, and honestly it’s gorgeous. Not just because of the artworks themselves, either – it’s illustrated by the brilliant Serge Bloch and his artist portraits still make me smile every time I see them.

Anyway, here are my three top reasons why kids need arty books – enjoy! And if you haven't already, head to aliceharman.com/newsletter to subscribe to What Book Now?, my free monthly newsletter with a handpicked selection of my favourite books for kids aged 0-12ish. I'll include an arty book or two whenever I can :)
