Scrabbling with piranhas

Scrabbling with piranhas

Nov 19, 2021

Yesterday’s Church Mice online writers’ session was a pocket of calm and good humour in a week that, quite frankly, has been bonkers (something to do with the coming of tonight’s full moon, perhaps?)

For a quick writing prompt, I drew on a pocket of calm and good humour from last week, sharing a photo of the Scrabble board from a game I played when hiding from the annual street fair in a pub.

Some of the Mice chose a single word and used it as a topic for a written piece (on cravings in pregnancy, for instance.)  Others tried to fit as many words as possible into a single piece.

Here’s mine, see what you think!

Piranhas

The bored little squirt on the estate did this trick with a paving slab which broke the axle on my mini.

‘Oi!’ I shouted, fighting the urge to use foul language on the lad.  ‘Think you're quite the rebel, don't you?’

‘Kiss my onion,’ he replied, without a flicker of shame. ‘Jig on back to your own zone or I'll set my dad on you!’
