End-of-Year Challenge: Finish 2021 Strong, Not Wrong

Aloha my Ohana!

Can you believe it's already October, with less than 3 months left in 2021?

This is the time of the year when it gets pretty with Autumn leaves and decorations for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it also gets ugly with stress just living our daily lives plus preparing for these holidays, and then people get sick during this time of the year when they start to spend more time inside because it's cold outside, eating less healthy with holiday goodies, and exercising less in order to spend more time prepping for the holidays or working more to meet deadlines or avoid the holidays.

So, to keep me focused on doing what's right, and not get wrapped up in the holidays frenzies, I'm doing an End-of-Year Challenge. The goal is to focus on improving ONE thing in my life by December 31st. In the past, I found it motivated me and helped me be consistent when I did 90-day challenges to lose a few pounds and stay fit with a small group of people because I knew I was not alone in my quest and was inspired by others' progress and encouragement.

Now, I'm inviting you to join me in this challenge that can help us BOTH finish 2021 STRONG instead of wrong.

You may be wondering, what is the ONE thing I'm going to focus on?

I'm doing ok now with my weight but the 3 things I struggle with are ... Hearing, Vision, and Memory.

Even though I wear hearing aids I still can't understand what people say many times which makes it harder to deal with people and to socialize.

I find I have to wear reading glasses more often.

And remembering where I put something or how to do things is harder.

I like to think of my body like a car, the only car I'll ever have that I can't trade in for a new one if I neglect it. And when something seems off, I need to get it fixed ASAP before it becomes a big problem that can be unsafe and cost more to fix.

So, I need to keep my body running well by continuing to feed it more good things than bad things. Good things filled with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and anti-oxidants to fuel my body to fight off diseases, viruses and deal with stress. And then there's the bad things that I need to avoid or at least limit which is anything with toxins that makes me feel off. (There's so much more I could go into detail about when it comes to how food impacts me. If you want to know more, just ask in a comment below.)

Now, the other thing to remember is that a car that sits still for too long even though it is filled with good stuff and kept clean, cannot run well when it comes time to drive it again because the battery is draining and weather beats on the tires, etc. Anyway, what I'm getting at is that my body needs to move regularly to keep all its parts working well too.

So I said all that to make the point that I need to continue to maintain my body while also focusing on fixing a part. So that part is my hearing, which is not just my ears but also all the parts that connect to it. I'm no medical professional but I have a lot of experience in wellness methods for me and my loved ones. I haven't had much success in improving my hearing so far without hearing aids because I have not been consistent in doing it for a long time. My problem is putting other people or things before my own needs. So, that's why I'm looking for a group of people to join me in this challenge.

So, how is your "car"? What is the ONE thing YOU want to improve by the end of this year?

Not to be perfect but at least a little better than last year. It can be anything ... your physical, mental, financial, spiritual, or relationship wellness.
