Thanks for joining me for This Week Anime! This week we're doing Attack on Titan. If you haven't seen it, I would definitely give this baby a watch.
Attack on Titan (the anime series) is based off of a Japanese Manga written and illistrated by Hajime Isayama. Attack on Titan has been serialized in Kodansha's monthly Bettatsu Shonen Mag since September 2009 and has collected 32 tankobon (books not part of the series) volumes as of September 2020.
Our story starts out with Eren and Mikasa, and their best friend who unfortunately keeps getting beat up, Armin. After saving their best friend from some bullies, you start to figure out where they're living isn't as open to the world as you think it should be.
Titans have taken over the world, and to survive humanity has built these huge walls to try and live normally. Within the towering walls, cities where humans are living, starts to feel like status determines where you are.. and some common knowledge isn't allowed within the walls.
The information you're given in the first episode, is super vague and leaves you guessing. You know Mikasa isn't Eren's sister, his Dad has to leave because he's a doctor and he obviously is needed.. but makes the comment when he returns.. he'll show Eren what's in the basement.. spoiler, you don't find out for a while. However you do find out so many other juicy things that leave you not only guessing, but also leaves you wondering what actually is going to happen.
Before I spoil anymore, the first episode will literally suck you in. I can promise that! Also to add the two cents to the overwhelming battle of Sub vs Dub, watch this subbed. You get so much more, and the emotions come across perfectly.. where as Dub doesn't make you feel like you're fighting for your life along with Erin, Mikasa, Armin, and the rest of the civilization.
