TWG - Horizon Forbidden West

Feb 15, 2022

The anticipated sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn is set to release this Friday at Midnight, February 18th, for PS4 and PS5; so far all the leaked game play looks absolutely amazing, and that's not even getting close to the credit it deserves.

Horizon Forbidden West is an action role playing game developed by Gorilla Games, creators of the well known game Killzone, and published by Sony Entertainment. Alike to the post apocalyptic single player game before it, Horizon Zero Dawn, this next chapter is said to be bringing more to the table. More to explore, bigger or rather enormous and more terrifying mecs, and a plethora of tribes across the world of Horizon.

Life itself is under extinction, and it's up to you (Aloy) to brave the dying world around you to find out why, and what exactly is going on.. it's up to you to restore the balance of Horizon. Not only will you be reuniting with old friends, you'll be unlocking secrets from the ancient past of Horizon, and secrets about yourself. Make sure you're also looking out for the mysterious new boss that Sony calls, "Seemingly Undefeatable".

One of the many reasons why I am so excited for this next chapter, are the graphics and scenery. The lush forests are so dense and so green, not to mention the sunken cities you're said to encounter as well. From beach to towering mountains, I am stoked for what this game really has in store for the eyes, and how much has really changed from Zero Dawn. So far what's been leaked and allowed to be shown from beta testers looks like how I think it would, awe-inspiring and deeply breathtaking.

Along with a new story, there have been hints towards different things that have been fixed that caused a little bit of an issue for those really enveloped in the game. Things like plot holes, random information that didn't pertain to anything, and interactions are supposed to be much more engaging.

Overall things are said to be much smoother, and much more enjoyable when it comes to the the experience of the game as a whole. Aloy's skill tree is way more expansive, which allows you to play how you like, as well as "Relic Ruins" which are puzzle boxes you have to solve hidden all over the map. Engagement between characters as the story develops is supposed to be much more in depth as well. Which gives more of a realistic feel and attaches you to the story and it's characters with ease more so than it's predecessor.

If you're into Gwent, the card game from The Witcher 3, check out the in game mini game in Forbidden West. The mini game offered is a strategy board game, which can be played with pretty much any character in the game. Each character with their own individuality like playstyle, game board and pieces, that can literally be played hours on end. Playing these games also helps you find new miniatures you can add and collect to use in the mini game.

Without giving away too many spoilers, definitely check this game out!

Until next time, GAME until your hearts content <3
