The semester is over! We did it! This has been without a doubt the most challenging semester I've had in higher ed, and yes, I'm including my own grad student years in that. But, at last, we've hit the few weeks where things slow down before spring, and I am very grateful to finally lean in to winter's invitation to slow down a little.
That said, I'm also feeling the inward call as January approaches and the arbitrary reset that is turning over a new calendar year arrives. I'm a new year nerd and love starting a fresh planner and a fresh set of annual goals and resolutions. 2021 was one heck of a year, and yet... I'm pretty proud of what I accomplished when it's all said and done.
As for the last couple of weeks in writing, here's a few highlights for you:
Reflecting on the semester and why it felt approximately three million years long, I wrote about how much I miss being able to see my students' faces
Thinking ahead to 2021 and my hashtag goals, I once again revisited Bumble BFF and the question of how to make local friends as a grown human with a job and a healthy dose of social anxiety
As the year rounds out I'm sure my work will get reflective as I do, too, and that I'll disappear when the holidays swallow me up in good old Cincinnati, Ohio.
