Orisa (pronounced 'Orisha'): Spiritual entities who are inherently good and are represented as forces of nature, in the West African Ifa Orisa Spiritual practice.
The image above captures two speed magicians having a blast and striking the world famous 'Shango' pose. Presenting Usain ‘lightening‘ Bolt and Lewis ‘turbo‘ Hamilton. One uses his temple the other uses a machine, to reach speeds that us mortals can only dream of: both magicians require speed, strength, focus and mental clarity, One needs more stamina the other more dexterity. Both are entertaining and love to engage with the general public. Their contribution to humanity has secured a place for them both as legends of their craft.
Which force of nature are we acknowledging this month? In the pantheon of 401+ Orisha here is a big clue it is not Shango, but they are said to have a close relationship. The spirits of nature teaches us that, there is sometimes an element of good which comes out of challenges. In contrast there are sometimes challenges, which come out of doing good. Strange but true. Look back at some of your own life experiences so far. You might well be in the in the middle of this phenomenon right now. If this is the case, do not take it personally, you are not alone. Sometimes speed is of the essence and at other times doing nothing is the best course of action. Knowing the difference between the two comes with spiritual maturity. This is not related to age, but rather the individuals ability to decipher messages from the super natural world. We will be revisiting this idea in future discussions.
