Where did my love for blogging & writing ...

Where did my love for blogging & writing come from?

Mar 16, 2021

I recently did a little Q&A over on my Twitter and Sarah kindly asked "What drew you to blogging, what made you start?"

It really made me think to myself that I've not largely talked about where my love for writing and blogging has come from.

Let's dive in!

Since I was very young (think primary school age), I loved to create short stories. I'd write them for hours and hours and I'd even be quite precious and pernickety over them. It was a great form of escapism and creativity.

English was always my best subject at school- it's the one that I also paid the most attention to! I got top grades and I felt comfortable and confident around language, film, and writing in general.

I then won a writing competition when I was a young teenager and went on to write for magazines such as Macs London. It taught me to research, how to understand trends, and write popular articles.

After writing for some really fun places such as House of Coco and Mindless magazine, I was so ready to commit to my own blog. I loved writing articles for magazines, but it was tough when I had my exams to focus on and my personal life was rather turbulent.

I've written restaurant reviews, beauty spotlights, fashion trend bibles- you name it. I'm so grateful for the experiences that I have had so far.

I've experimented with different niches, writing styles, and ideas. Here's an article that I wrote about why experimenting is key for personal growth and understanding your niche.

As a curious person who loves to learn, read, analyse, and is naturally drawn to places where I can create... blogging seemed like a natural route to go down.

It hasn't been a straight road, I've taken blogging breaks, I've freelanced for numerous businesses, I've started new blogs and gone off the idea, you name it! That's what I love about blogging, it isn't concrete and it doesn't have to be polished if you don't want it to be.

I view some blog posts like journals and just go bleh. I love the personality and connection that comes from reading the words from people that intrigue you or that you get on well with.

I feel in such a good place now. I adore my blog and I'm super happy with my Instagram. That's because I know that it resonates with my current loves and values. I also get excited about where it might all be in a year's time. I won't be the same person, I won't be in the same place, and I love that.

So, overall... I love that blogging isn't stagnant and there is the ability to adapt to change. I love the fluidity, freedom, and opportunity to just go for it.

I'd love to write a part 2 about my thoughts and feelings around blogging. Would you be interested?

Love, Amy x
