I'm making a short film, and I have a crazy plan to fund it with micropayments. It's probably been tried before, and no doubt failed, but quite honestly, at a time when the cost of living is no joke, asking people to stump up £20, £50, even £100 is a little embarrassing. Sure, some people are super generous, but it is a lot to ask.
So, my plan is to try to raise £1000 with micropayments, £1 or more, the most you can spare. In return, I'll make sure you get a copy of the film once it's finished. I have a lot of friends and followers on various social networks. If every one of then gave just £1, I could finance the short with no worries whatsoever (in fact, I'd be halfway to funding a feature, but let's not run before we can walk!).
So, what do we need the money for? Well, most of the cast and crew are, thankfully, doing it for nothing, but I would like to at least offer them the option to claim expenses. On top of that, there's the insurance, the location fees, the catering and some props.
Please, please, please, if you can spare a pound, please buy the £1 extra which will also get you a copy of the film, once it's released. Let's see if we can hit £1000! And please share this with everyone you know.
