There she is! Over 9,600 miles and still counting. Her latest odyssey finds her looping around the New England Seamounts, a string of extinct volcanoes that formed some of the oldest mountains in the the northeastern part of North America during the period of continental drift. Today, they fortunately lie dormant, but the unique geology serves as host to a surprising variety of marine life, where turtles like Freckles love to dive among the coral for a delectable seafood buffet.
If you look at a topographic map of the ocean, you can still see the worn volcanic peaks sitting quietly off the coast of Massachusetts. 🌋
