#AruAniWeek2021 Day 1: Modern

Mar 19, 2021

It's my first time joining AruAni Week! Here's a ficlet about my new fave ship where they visit their new house! Let me know your thoughts, perhaps? :)

"This looks…" Annie paused, taking in the view once she stepped inside the newly furnished house.

"Plain? Boring? Simple?"

She glanced at her fiance, a small smile forming on her lips. "No. It's...the way I want our house to look like."

Armin grinned and placed his arm around Annie's waist. "I'm glad you like it. Surprise."

With a blush on her cheeks, Annie leaned her head on his shoulder, her gaze still lingering around the living room of the modern Japanese-inspired house. "You really made an effort here, huh?" She chuckled.

"Of course, I want only the best for my future family."

This time, Annie buried her face in the crook of his neck. She wasn't going to let Armin see the crimson tint on her cheeks. "Thank you," she breathed.

"Are you happy?"

"Very. Only you could make me this happy, Armin Arlert."

Armin chuckled before kissing the top of her head. "Good. Let's look around, shall we?" He then grabbed her hand and led the way, showing her the ins and outs of their new home. He was thrilled when he led her to the kitchen, because he knew she would love to spend her free time cooking and baking for him there. When he saw the gleam on her eyes, his heart skipped a beat.

"This is our kitchen?" Annie asked after a gasp. "Oh my gosh, Armin." She let go of his hand and looked around the countertops and cabinets with a wide smile. "I love it! This was how I imagined our kitchen. There's a lot of space for everything! And the colors – white and beige – just like the rest of the house, they're perfect!" She turned around to face him.

Armin took a few steps closer to her, repaying her smile with his own. "I know you would love it."

Annie rolled his eyes and crossed her arms on her chest. "Are you a mind reader or something? You basically just designed a house that looks pretty much like the house I've always imagined to live in."

He laughed as he pulled her by the waist. "I just know you too well, Love. This is the best project I've ever worked on. And it makes me so happy that you love it the same way that I do." He rested his forehead against hers. "Annie, I can't wait to marry you."

Annie swallowed hard and bit her lip. She couldn't hide the blush on her cheeks anymore.

When Armin saw her expression, he couldn't help but smirk. "I like it when you blush because of me."

"A-armin, I'm not b-blush—"

"Really?" He raised an eyebrow at her.

Annie looked away, but Armin was quick enough to follow her lips with his own. She kissed him back with as much fervor, her hands making their way to his blond hair.

After a few moments, they pulled away, breathless and flustered like teenagers who fell in love for the first time.

"I love you," Armin uttered. He caught how her eyes suddenly became glassy. He smiled.

"You know I feel the same way, Armin." Annie bit her lip again.

"I can't wait to live here with you. To start our own family. Annie, can't we fast forward to Sunday?" Armin pouted, making Annie laugh.

"Silly. We can't do that."

Armin sighed. "Okay. I'll wait for three more days then."

Annie ruffled his hair and tugged his arm back to the living room. She plopped down on the couch with him following suit. And then she rested her head on his lap.

Armin met her gaze. And for a moment, it felt as if nothing else in the world matters.
