Best Burger Challenge 2022: How does Bricktown Brewery rate?

I'm traveling around the Wichita Metro, sampling the burger offerings from any joint that has burgers on the menu, local, regional, national chain, it doesn't matter. In order to determine a true champion of burgers in the metro, I'll have to sample them all in the name of "burger science" (cough).  For the burger criteria, click here.

So for a Monday night burger dinner I hit the Bricktown Brewery, the last of the burger joints starting with a 'B' I needed to hit on the Burger Challenge list. I was joined by Pam W., the lady who bought me a birthday dessert last week at Deano's Grill and Taproom.  We met up at 5pm and with the place not at all busy, getting seated at a table was no problem.

Bricktown Brewery Bacon Cheddar Burger and sweet potato fries That's a sexy looking burger and fry plate right there, yes indeed...

Before the burger fun was to begin, I ordered the Avocado Fries appetizer to share and it was STELLAR! Beer-battered avocado slices served with a habanero mango aioli for dipping.  It was SO good!  Fried to perfection you got the crispy and well seasoned beer batter exterior followed by the creamy, umami goodness of the avocado slices and that habanero mango aioli - It was another dose of YUM!  WOW is that ever a repeat buy!  Pam took the first bite and jokingly told me it was bad and I wouldn't want to eat any of it that's how good it was!  She cracks me up.  I think I could have had another order of those all to myself for dinner and I would have been good.

Under the lid reveal 3 strips of bacon, not the typical 2 and plenty of 'Burger Sauce'

Predictably, I already knew what I was ordering for my evening meal, a bacon cheeseburger of course and I went with what Bricktown Brewery simply but accurately calls the Bacon Cheddar Burger, coupled with a side of sweet potato fries.  Bricktown uses Creekstone Farms Black Angus Beef - NICE! - and all their burgers come topped with lettuce, tomato, red onion and pickles.  Featured on this burger is sweet peppered bacon, the cheddar cheese of course and 'burger sauce.'

Once delivered, the burger was quite tasty.  I have to say the service was more than a bit slow and that's not a hit on the kitchen, it's a hit on our server, Gabriella, not very attentive at all...  More on that later.  The beef was cooked to perfection with a thin line of pink running through it as requested.  It was seasoned well and very juicy.  I got three strips of bacon on my burger, not the typical two slices you receive at most places and it was crispy with each bite.  The veggies were fresh, on point and the melted cheddar delivered some pleasant sharp but not too sharp notes.  The 'Burger Sauce', an amped up Thousand Island was generously applied and elevated all the flavor pairings.  Wrapping everything up in a great package was that toasted brioche bun which was firm yet 'pillowy' at the same time, holding everything together from first bite to last.

Inside look at Bricktown Brewery burger Burger patty was perfectly cooked, nice burger assembly.

Side Note:  These were the best sweet potato fries I've had so far in this challenge.  They were perfectly fried and perfectly seasoned.  Sweet potato fries can be harder to get crisp on that outside edge than regular fries, but Bricktown Brewery knows what they're doing.  Repeat buy worthy for sure!

Costing me $15.05 with tax for the burger and fries, the Bricktown Brewery Bacon Cheddar Burger scored a 58 out of 63 possible points, earning it 5 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars.  The burger was so nicely balanced and while that generous portion of 'Burger Sauce' made for a messy burger eat, it did kick things up a notch.  Anytime you have burger juices and sauce running down your hand, a.k.a. FLAVOR, it's a good thing.

5 stars

Bricktown Bacon Cheddar Burger A messy but very delicious mouthful

Located at 2035 Rock Rd, Wichita, KS 67206, the Bricktown Brewery kitchen cranks out some very tasty food.  The service is a bit lacking though, Gabriella wasn't very attentive, it was like she didn't want to be there.  I had to request drink refills a number of times and waiting to place an order for dinner took way too long.  Yes, Gabriella was briefed another minute or two was needed to peruse the menu in deciding what to have for dinner, but then to not come back for like 15 minutes?  The hint of menus placed to the side and out of reading range doesn't indicate anything?  C'mon.   OK, and while business did pick up after 6pm, you're training someone, you're busier with more tables and you did get around to asking about dessert and when asked we said (like as for dinner) another minute or two was needed to check out dessert offerings, again perusing the menu, but you don't come back for 20 minutes while a different waitress provides a water refill?  Check please!  The sad thing is Gabriella was training somebody.  Was the night's lesson about how NOT to be observant?  Empty glasses and menus to the side don't say anything to you?  Thank you Bricktown Brewery Kitchen, nice job!  NO thank you Gabriella, a 17% tip was too generous, hopefully you pooled it with the new hire.
