My practice is interested in how the language used by some organizations portray autism as a disease. Before I established my practice, I engaged in several online debates with the anti-vaccination movement; who strongly believe vaccinations cause autism. Despite research proving that there is no link between vaccinations and autism, some have attempted to “cure” autism with pseudo-medicine; specifically Mineral Miracle Solution (which contains Chlorine Dioxide.) By exploring the language and stereotypes of autism, I use my own narrative as an autistic person to address this anxiety.
