THE IMPORTANCE OF NICHING 🧐

THE IMPORTANCE OF NICHING 🧐

Apr 27, 2021

If you have ever watched any fishing show 🐟 You might catch on that they do not just throw a worm into the water and hope for anything. They often use a specific kind of tackle for a specific kind of fish.

You can think of niching down this way. I am going to discuss a few different topics here!

  • Why niching is important.

  • How you can niche on Buy Me A Coffee

  • Ideas to get you started.

  • Ending statement

WHY WOULD I WANT TO NICHE?

First, when you niche down you get better quality of people. Would you rather have five people who support you for a couple months or two people who support you for a year? I would hope the latter.

Second, it is a lot less work when you niche down. Going back to our fish example 🐟 (I love this emoji). If they were going for every fish in the pond, they would more than likely have to use twice the amount of bait. Worms being the case in this example and twice the number of fishing poles, so they have a better chance of catching something.

HOW CAN I NICHE ON BUY ME A COFFEE?

You might already be niching 😎 and not know it. If you are using your BMAC for your YouTube channel the people who have subscribed are the ones who really like what you are doing and support you. If they decide to support you on BMAC they will be the ones who support you for years not months.

If you feel like you are not niched down enough start thinking about, what is it that you are passionate about and how you can add value to it so you can share with others.

EXAMPLES

I want to give you a couple ideas to help you understand what I mean and how you can relate this to what you are doing.

Example One - YouTuber

I am a beauty YouTuber. I want to setup a BMAC page for subscribers who enjoy what I do. I know that most of my subscribers are into makeup.

I decide it would be best to niche my BMAC page for that set of people, so I do a few things.

First.) I let people know I am setting up a BMAC page and I will be posting makeup tutorials one week early.

Second.) I setup a poll to ask between what kind of makeup brand they want me to do a review over (poll could be on Facebook, Insta, YouTube).

Third.) Once the poll is finished. I create said video of the winning poll and post it to my BMAC page. I let people know that they could watch it a week early and it helps support the channel.

The value in this example is yourself. Your subscribers already love what you do and support you by staying subscribed. In this case you are just giving them the ability to watch what you make earlier. You can use this same idea for tech channels and product reviews.

Example Two – Artist

I am an artist. I work with oil-based paints on canvas. I want to create a BMAC page for some side income.

I decide it would be best to niche my BMAC page, so I do a few things.

First.) I would figure out a specific style (my niche) I am comfortable with. Let us say I am comfortable creating landscapes and animal portraits. While I can do multiple different things. I am deciding that I will focus my BMAC page on animal portraits.

Second.) Awesome, I got my niche I want to focus on! In this case setting up a membership would be best. I decide I am going to setup two membership tiers. The first will be for people who want to just see my commissioned animal portraits. The second tier will be for people who want to have an animal portrait commissioned.

Third.) I got my niche, what I am going to be doing with my niche, and now we advertise. In this case I would post a few commissioned pieces on my social media page and website and make them free to view so people can see the value (cute animal portraits). It would give them incentive to support you monthly and they can have a choice on how they want to do that.

The value in this example is your artwork. People love their pets and also enjoy seeing other peoples pets (value). You also give them a choice on how they want to support you with different membership tiers. You could use this example for a consultation service or software development.

ENDING STATEMENT

I hope that this shined some light on why niching can be important to growing! You can always use these ideas for your own and share what you have learned here with others.
