Prequel to The Knight and the Necromancer

Putting Romance in Necromancy is a short story prequel to The Knight and the Necromancer series. It gives context to how Sairis, despite never being far from his tower, ended up in the Tipsy Knave. A quick read that helps to form the basis of what was to come in the series. This is also a story to outlined what could be the start of another friendship that helps Sairis figure out how to navigate building relationships in the series.
The Story Line
Sairis is a Necromancer apprentice that was invited to the palace by the queen. Despite the fact, Sairis and his master has been hunted by the knights of the realm for years. The promise of an accord a chance at a fresh start was exactly was Sairis, and his master, needed. BUT, how to get to the palace without letting down his guard or letting the royal knights learn his tricks of evasion?
The local town knacker has come for charms and potions a few times on the down-low. Sairis was always intrigued by his asks, and what he does NOT ask. Turning to the knacker in this time of need seemed right. On top of that, he learned more about himself and where to explore in town.
What Did I Love about Putting the Romance in Necromancy?
Putting the Romance in Necromancy is a short story that has one main scene. The “creation” of his transportation into the city. However, it did weave in his exploration of his sexuality (in a non-sexual way) as well as a scene where he was almost discovered. It really put together a few of the details that left you wondering in the series: How did he know about the Tipsy Knave? How did he get to the city? Why was he unable to leave the city? All this gets answered in a well-crafted short story.
