Life Sparks: JUNTO

Life Sparks: JUNTO

Apr 17, 2021

It's a fact that most (if not all) popular social media platforms we have now have helped us build contacts, develop relationships, and grow our businesses. However, whether you are aware of it or not (I suspect you already are), they have also contributed much to the toxicity we have in our lives today, especially in our mental health.

These platforms have evolved into a culture of fake news, hate speech, and superficial trends. They have influenced many to pursue what now is believed the new standard of beauty —filtered and superficial connections instead of expressing our authentic selves and developing genuine relationships. They have led many to be more impulsive and clout culture-driven, which have greatly affected real-life decision-making instead of critical thinking, fact-checking, and values-driven. It saddens me that critical thinking and fact-checking, values, a.k.a. being responsible, are now mostly just some things of the past. It's almost like saying: "being responsible is out and being an idiot is in" —how can we live happily in a world like this? Seriously?!

I've always been conscious about these things because I am a very empathetic person, and I feel a lot for people! I always see, feel and sense the good in people no matter what. I feel hope! And I'd love to discover more of that innate goodness in people. I want to empower that hope. I want to make a difference! But now, especially in a pandemic, we rely even more on these energy-vampire-filled social media. I've thought about how to improve this situation a lot of times. As in A LOT! Like one of my attempts was during the onset of the pandemic. I started using the hashtag #ShareTheGoodNewsToo because then, the amount of depressing, negative, and toxic posts showing on my feed grew exponentially! I couldn't blame people too. The world, as they say, is officially f*cked more than ever! I tried other approaches—many subtle things. But then I grew very weary, and I ended up unfollowing 90% of my FB contacts. Weeee!!!

I eventually got so tired of trying. I retreated. I became jaded. But the desire to grow this hope and to make a difference lingered. The fire went out, but there were tiny sparks everywhere. And most probably, that's what kept me going during my darkest moments. These tiny sparks helped me walked my way in the dark.

And now, I am just sooooo delighted to see things fall into their proper places! More and more like-minded and like-hearted people are here! The fire is burning brightly and brilliantly again! 🔥🔥🔥

One of the sparks I encountered recently is JUNTO ✨✨✨✨ , and boy!!! The guy behind it, Eric Yang, is just soooo awesome! I cannot even ASDFGHJK! (It's very rare for a NanaBanana to be out of words! And that's a FACT!) "ASDFGHJK" is the highest compliment I can bestow to another living creature! It's the highest honor! 😂😂😂

JUNTO is a new breed of social media that aspire to make us see and focus more on what truly matters in life —authenticity and genuine relationships among other sugar, spice, and everything nice!!! ✨✨✨ JUNTO is working on becoming a fully decentralized platform to be launched on Holochain, ad-free and non-profit!

I've heard many saying skeptical remarks such as, "It's too ambitious.", "Nobody is there. Maybe I'll join when it becomes successful.", "Are you even sure it will be successful?" Please don't get me wrong, I find these reactions natural and valid concerns. But you know, I thought to myself, I've been longing for change and a better life, and more meaningful connections. So, I see there are two choices: I can just wait and see for this kind of thing to succeed OR I can be part and be one to ensure its success! If you are still reading this long post, you already know which choice I made! Find me on JUNTO! I go by the username: @bynana 💗
