Hey Folks! There is a cold outside the window. Heavy clouds like large spots of indigo cover the sky canvas. At a time like this, we want to think about hot chocolate and warm wind. All these thoughts led me to the canyons and their nature. Cacti are an image of warm and dry air. Places that don’t have any ice floes, and where the bright sun lives in the sky. By the way, drawing cacti is a good practice of precise lines, illusions of light and shadow, creating a volumetric convex pattern. I also already drew step by step how to draw a pine cone, a chestnut leaf, and a holly flower. Where I taught how to draw with shadows and highlights. Let’s draw.
For drawing an easy cactus saguaro in the pot with a pen, you need to have these materials.
Watercolor paper 120 gsm (90lb)
Pencil HB
Gel pen 0.5, black, and grey
Eraser extra soft
You may use other supplies, but the result may be different. So enjoy the process and not the result.
How to draw step-by-step:
1. Draw an oval with a pencil.
2. Draw long oval and C-curved line.
3. Draw C-curved lines and the pot is done.
4. Draw several long ovals connected to each other.
5. Draw some simple flowers.
6. Add ridges to the cactus.
7. Adding details to the pot.
8. Draw all the lines with a liner.
9. Draw the inner lines with small strokes.
10. Add spikes.
11. Draw shadows.
12. Add details with a gray liner for depth.
13. Add details.
