Oppression = Trauma

Oppression = Trauma

Nov 16, 2022

I think I can say I hate most self-help books. I think. I like books that teach you about your brain, body, or society. Don't tell me what to do. You don't know what I can do.

Some books are considered self-help, but they aren't really telling you to do everything on your own. For example, books like The Wisdom of Your Body. I wasn't going to read it because it is in the self-help genre.

One definition of self-help:

Self-help is the collection of publicly available information that focuses on helping people overcome psychological problems (Gluck, 2021).

I can't leave my house some days, and you expect me to overcome psychological problems ON MY OWN????? And publicly available? Some people don't have internet (including people in The United States). Some people can't digest the information for whatever reason. But that's not the point.

Random: Did you know some doctors would say all oppressed people experience trauma? Daily. Try to overcome that!

And some people have more trauma than others. Some people have trauma, plus a learning disability. Some people have schizophrenia plus trauma. Some people have C-PTSD and are autistic. Do I need to go on? What worked for one person isn't going to work for Tommy. UGH. People!

I feel a Medium piece coming, so I must go.

I worked 12 hours yesterday. I only wrote 143 words. I will get back to Nano tonight. I had to work so much yesterday because I was sick almost all day Monday.

Check out The Wisdom of Your Body. I will make more book lists later. I was working on that on my Cassie Francis site.

No time to proofread. I'm a slave to a corporation. No, I wouldn't call myself a slave if I made enough to live. So if you make $70K a year, I wouldn't recommend you refer to yourself as a slave. But I don't care. It doesn't offend me either way.
