The surgeon's trousers

The surgeon's trousers

Apr 02, 2021

Well, I spoke to two of the three surgeons yesterday, and my consultant, via video chat and they're wheeling me in in two months for the surgery. I've not got an 'exact' date as yet because the surgeons need to coordinate their diaries.

The surgeon's falling trousers

One of the surgeons on the call - whose name I can't remember I just remember his mask kept falling down and it felt awkward like he was losing his trousers - anyway, he does this surgery thing that only 4 or 5 hospitals in the world offer so I am extremely lucky.

I'm not very good at remembering when stressed but my other half was on the call so I will try and summarise but it might change the story as the weeks go on. Haaaa

More bone

The really really clever surgeon with the falling trousers will be there to take out more bone to get as many tumour cells out as possible, which carries a higher risk of having a CSF fluid leak (fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord) - something that often happens with these surgeries and they're well used to managing, but not something I've thankfully ever had before.

Why can't they take the Pituitary Gland out?

I asked this - not in the sense of 'why haven't you thought of this, duh' kind of way but as a genuine unknown. The answer... I don't actually have much of the gland left and the tumour no longer sits just on the pituitary gland.

Why three surgeons this time?

Cus I'm kind of a big deal round the west country... No, because of this really really clever surgeon who needs to do the bone bit, the clever one who is an amazing neurosurgeon and I am so lucky to have a second time, and we need one in there to keep an eye on my eyes. Fascinating, isn't it?

Anyway, I think that was all I wanted to share and like I said I do get things confused when I am stressed so bear with me if anything is written wrong.

All that I now need to do is arrange how my business is going to carry on while I am convalescing for 4-6 months.

If anyone is able to share the link to 'buy me a coffee' on social media or to their newsletter list I'd be so grateful. The stress it reduces when someone donates is HUGE: www.buymeacoffee.com/catherineuk

Much love and remember, chocolate has NO calories over Easter. FACT.
