Welcome

Aug 30, 2021

My name is C.J. McCammon. I really like Kishu Ken - an aboriginal boar hound from Japan - and spooky things. I was affected by fires in Clackamas County, Oregon, and unexpected living arrangement changes back in September 2020 that caused me to first move to Rhode Island (until May 2021) and then New Mexico (current.) While I'm living in the middle of nowhere, New Mexico, with hopes to eventually return to Oregon, I've come to dedicate my time to writing and self-publishing a few projects I'd like to share with the world. This is convenient for me as I can stay home and dedicate some of my time to my dogs (Kishu Ken, currently at risk as a population) and can pour more of myself into sharing them with the world...

It is less convenient as a source of reliable income.

Obviously writing is a very labor-intensive process and in self-publishing I must become not only a writer, but an editor, a designer, and my own driving force. None of this is paid until I can publish my pieces... and even then the trickle might be slow.

So if you would like to support my writing and get early access to my works, please check out the subscription options to the right navigation bar. Some of these options will come with the ability to vote on where my writing goes and even may offer discounted goods and preorder links! If you would like to support me without subscribing, you can select the "support" tab and help my coffee habit while rise early and get to bed late to bring the world the following:

  • Non-Fiction: "The Kishu Ken", a breed history and resource for the Kishu Ken breed, a first of its kind in the English language. (TBD Fall 2021 publish date)

  • Non-Fiction: "Kishu Ken, The Illustrated Standard", a history of show winners, foundation dogs, and an illustrated standard for the international market (outline and research in progress)

  • Fiction: "Tales From Nameless Places/Powerful Spaces", a short story collection with supernatural elements involving liminality, nature, and the unknown. (TBD Fall/Winter 2021 publish date)

  • Fiction: 2 untitled urban fantasy novels to be released as companion pieces, still in outline and first draft
