Free Writing Resources from around the Web #1

Mar 12, 2022

One of the best things we can do as writers is learn. Writing is a process, a learning process, especially as an indie author, we must always keep learning in order to stay on top of our game and relevant.

Not only must we learn our craft, but the industry as well, marketing, promoting, tracking sales and expenses, best publishing tools and platforms, it's a never-ending list. Naturally, there is a flip side of that coin. MONEY. Everyone wants a piece of the pie and it's very hard to find quality tools and resources that can help us discover better ways to write, learn a better way or better process or simply help us stay focused.

This will be a short post, because I want to provide some of the best resources that I have found from the web, all designed to help you be the best author you can be. The first of these resources will come from the website for "The Novel Factory", they are a novel-writing and planning software site that really has a great tool that authors can utilize. While I am not a spokesperson for them, nor being paid in any way by them, I was impressed with their absolutely free worksheets that they have made available. They do have a free trial of the software if you are interested.

The link below will take you to 11 resources that you can download and use to jot down your story notes as you work out your next novel, novella, or short story. I like this set of sheets because they are clean, clear, and simple. Many of the free ones that I have found are too cluttered and feel too much like homework. Writing should be an enjoyable process, not a tedious one. These help you think things through, nudge you in the right direction, and provide room for your notes. Simple.

You will also see a "Writer's Resources" tab at the top of their menu bar. Click on that to see some more awesome info.

Professional Courtesy Note: Please use these for your own personal use and may also share them but please do not remove the "The Novel Factory" branding from any page. Thanks.
