For the past two years, I've created mini zines to send friends and loved ones at the end of the year. I've never been much for the expectations of gifts and cards around dominant holidays, but I am intentional about taking deep reflective dives when we turn over into new calendar years. This year, I made a zine with the intention of sharing it with you, too!
Last year, at the end of 2020, I couldn't wait for the year that rocked our world and hearts wide open to become something new. As 2021 wrapped up, I felt like a lot about our pandemic lives had changed in many ways, but I was also struck by how much I still missed my people.
I appreciate that we've managed to grow, connect, and stay in relationship, even under strange and often extremely challenging conditions, but sentimentality often gets the best of me and I wish, all the time, that there were easier ways for us to connect and express and share our love for one another. (Admittedly, this is more like an existential longing for me than a strictly pandemic-induced yearning.)
This year's zine, then, tries to honor the sense of a knowing love that persists even in times of prolonged distance and missing. You can find it under "Extras" on my BMAC profile, and then download, print, fold, write in, and send it to whomever you like, anytime of year. And as an extra thank you, the Little Love Zine is available to members for free!
