Story-starter Map Activity on Favorite Vacation Spot

🚀 Jack Gantos says, "Story-starter maps are the secret to writing success. Seeing is believing."

Genesis Kids can post their masterpiece 🖼️ in our private Discord! Let's create, share, and inspire! 👪 Or, share responses from their Creative Notebooks!

Draw a map of your favorite holiday vacation.

Map all the buildings, the nature paths, and important landmarks. Ask yourself, what happened there? What do I think happened? What do I want to have happened? What happened next? And next?

Highlight the areas on your map that are most special to you, even if you don't think they're important to someone else.

Next, include sensory details on your map. Locate and describe your vacation spot's smells, sounds, and sights. Use symbols or labels to explain.

Now reflect on your experience in this place. Where were places you learned something? What did you learn? Were there any firsts or lasts? Describe.

Which people do you associate with the places on your map? Why are they important? What happened?

These maps encourage you to visualize and craft tales based on your fav vacation spots. With a story-starter map 🗺️, you can bring your treasured memories to life and unlock a world of imaginative storytelling.
