It's a celebration of the artistic talent of the Gay Liberation Front activists of 50 years ago, as well as works by a new generation of LGBTQ+ artist/activists. As well as the exhibition, I've programmed a wrap-around festival of events:
MONDAY 4 OCTOBER 2021 - QUEER CHINA UK, SOLIDARITY NOW - A film-screening, panel discussion and Q&A with the artist/activists involved in Queer China UK.
MONDAY 11 OCTOBER - ISLINGTON'S PRIDE - A celebration and exploration of Islington's rich queer heritage, chatting to some of the people that have contributed to it.
MONDAY 18 OCTOBER - NORTH, SOUTH, EAST & WEST; WHEREVER YOU LIVE GAY IS BEST - A celebration and exploration of the GLF communes in all four compass points, where GLF members shared food, money, clothes, ideas and lovers.
MONDAY 25 OCTOBER - DRAG: POWER & POLITICS - - A celebration and exploration of the way the GLF harnessed drag in their actions and campaigns, and of the radical theatre troupe Bloolips, borne out of the GLF that toured Britain, Europe and America.
Do get booking if any of these catch your eye. A fifth event; GAY SHORTS, an evening of short international LGBTQ+ films on Monday 1 November, 7pm, will be announced shortly!
