Exoplanetary Archaeology series: The spider-sheep ranching guild on Teegarden's Star b has awarded their Coalition representative with this splendid animal as a thank-you for the recent decommissioning of a Big Bad SMART node unearthed at our dig site. We had expected anger and recriminations following the ensuing loss of prime ranchlands, but were underestimating the extent to which a visceral aversion to that AI's reign of terror still informs their culture. As a curious aside, the farmers are also adamant that their spider-sheep are more docile since the bad tech was neutralized. I am inclined to attribute the change to the cessation of hustle and bustle at the site, but who knows? Perhaps the artificial immune systems of the animals were indeed picking up on some subtle emanations at work even before the device was unearthed.
