Yes the data originates from the sensors this race of explorer/librarians once scattered across 1500 light years of occupied space. But the experience is more than that: elusive, deeply personal, recalled rather than perceived. The longer we watch, the more difficulty we have remembering who we are exactly, as if awakening in dig camp this morning was a dream.
