You create your own reality
Saw this graphic this morning… “I’m doing really really well in my life rn (right now) as long as I don’t think about anything that has ever happened or might ever happen”
It’s funny but, it’s also true lol. You hear that “living in the moment” is the best way to go, yeah? Well, essentially, that’s what it means. You’re not thinking about the past or the future. You’re just dealing with what is in the moment. It’s funny because you’re always “living in the moment” but, your brain (remember, the one that’s not always your friend?) often tells you stories.
The average person has 30k stray thoughts a day or something like that. It’s ok to let thoughts go. Sometimes at night, going to sleep, I have great ideas about things to write about but I never try to remember them. I actually stopped trying to flesh them out a couple years ago. I prefer things like this very post. I saw something, the graphic, and had the thought to share this with you.
You are not who you used to be. You are who you are RIGHT NOW. And, then minutes from now you will be who you are right then. This is important because people often judge you, and if they share that judgment with you when your right now is not so good, it’s gonna smack more.
Life ebbs and flows. While the experiences you had in the past helped make you who you are, they aren’t who you are. “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” I say that to remind myself to keep good thoughts. About myself, my life, my people. And, if the thoughts aren’t good in the current moment, I remind myself that literally everyone is doing the best they can with what they’ve got in this moment. And it helps me give grace to others, to give myself grace.
When you find you’ve locked yourself in a time machine thinking about the past or the future, remember you are the only one who has the key to freedom. Take a deep breath and don’t let anything ruin your moment. It’s yours for the making. Doesn’t feel like it lol but, it’s true.
