"Unreal Birds" is a place where I share occasional updates, commentary, and recommendations related to the intersection of technology, politics, and democracy.
In my 'day job,' I wear a lot of hats. I'm a contributing editor at Tech Policy Press and a senior fellow at the University of Pittsburgh's CTRLab. I am also a non-resident fellow at American University's Center for Security, Innovation, and New Technology.
In 2022, I was an investigative analyst with the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol. I started my career in international affairs, and have more than ten years of experience in think tanks, including two at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and eight at the National Endowment for Democracy.
