Mm... Minecraft!

Mm... Minecraft!

Oct 25, 2022

Greetings,

Are you familiar with the popular game Minecraft? Been a minute since I've taken the time to play Minecraft honestly. Not the best player however I am a great player being I am a beginner. One thing I know for sure, my son knows how to play very well. While talking to him about the builds and adventures he's experienced, I started to do some research into the community of Minecraft. Not just the community I've researched, I also took time to review all of the options this game has. After doing gaining much insight I came to realize that this game is powerful and for good reason. Let's speak a moment about what I've found out about the game and why I am getting back into the world of blocks.

Minecraft is a sandbox game that was developed by Mojang Studios. The game was first made public in 2009 and has grown to be one of the most popular games in the world. The programming language used to create the game is Java and many private testing versions came about before the public. Since the release, the game has expanded to several platforms such as Android, iOS, PlayStation, Xbox and many more. So what's the game all about you ask? Well the game allows players to explore a blocky 3D world discovering raw materials, craft tools, build structures and much more. Depending on the game mode you can fight mobs, co-op with other players in the same world.. The two modes that are common are "Survival" and "Creative".

Survival mode allows players to get natural resources in order to create certain tools and blocks. While the world starts for the most part of the day, at night is when the monsters roam until sunrise. This mode has a health bar and a hunger bar which is refilled by doing certain actions within the game. This is the most popular for many even stream their experiences of the gameplay. Players can craft many items in the game as well such as armor, weapons, and more. You also have a inventory system allowing players to carry a limited number of items. Once you die however all the items are dropped and you must find them after respawning 5 minutes after dying or they will disappear forever. Players may gain experience points for killing players and mobs, breeding animals and cooking food. There are different types of modes like discussed prior outside of the two popular ones. Additional modes included are:

  • Hardcore - locked to the hardest setting.

  • Creative - players have access to nearly all resources and items in the game through the inventory menu and can be placed remove them instantly.

  • Adventure - could experience user-created custom maps and adventures.

  • Spectator - allows players to fly through blocks and watch gameplay without directly interacting.

  • Multiplayer - enables multiple players to interact and communicate with each other on a single word. It's also available through direct game to game multiplayer, LAN play, local split screen (console only), and servers.

Thus far I was able to get back into the my local server world "Galxcee MC" and started building. Wanted to get the hang of things again for I truly forgot how to do much, but with the ease of the gameplay it wasn't hard at all to learn again. Now having the basics of things, I wanted to take it a step further and build a server for my son and I to build amazing things in a world. This is a great option that comes with the game because it allows players that you know able to access the world. To create a server it is FREE of charge, there are a number of websites that offer free hosting Minecraft. One of them is called Apex Minecraft Hosting which uses the latest hardware to ensure no lags or downtime. Hopefully once I learned the entirety of the server build and how it works I will provide a follow up blog post.

Well great people that's all today. If you are a Minecraft player and would like to connect feel free to reach out. I am currently using v.1.19.31 so I'm not sure yet on how we can connect, but I would love to learn more for knowledge is infinite.

Peace and Light.
