Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome is the third instalment in the Mad Max franchise, and it was released in 1985. The movie stars Mel Gibson for the final time as Max Rockatansky, who finds himself in Bartertown, a settlement governed by Aunty Entity, played by Tina Turner. Max finds himself in the titular Thunderdome, an arena where two men enter, and only one man leaves. Max is pitted against the mighty Master Blaster, but he soon discovers more to this contest than meets the eye.
After a battle to the death in the Thunderdome, Max finds himself yet again, set adrift in the desert, where he stumbles across a tribe of children who believe Max to be their saviour, Captain Walker. After some of the tribe go off on a mission to find the prophesied 'Tomorrow-Morrow Land', Max leaves with some of the others to rescue them, leading them back to Bartertown for a final showdown with Auntie Entity.
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome is a fun movie. It's got exciting characters, locations, and action. I think it might be the weakest of the Mad Max movies, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. What are your thoughts about it? Let me know in the comments.
