It's hard to believe I've got 11 episodes of my podcast out there in the world, but alas! Here it is, ready for your ears—Episode 11. What's also hard to believe is that my podcast has been downloaded in 90 cities in 24 different countries from all but one continent! Calling Antarctica! Can I just say WOW?
Anywho, this episode is a little bit about the genesis of my latest book Nom de Plume An Extraordinary Life, followed by a short reading from Chapter 1.
The book itself was difficult to write because it required a ton of research; and, it was so emotional—I probably shed more tears writing it than all four of my other books combined. More than anything, it was a fun ride. I say ride because for quite a bit of it I was literally along for the ride. Parts of the book just wrote itself it seemed, with ideas I hadn't even considered swooping in and taking over the writing. Good times.
I hope you enjoy this episode. Coming up in weeks to come... an episode about another aspect of the novel-writing process; an episode about my namesake Djuna Barnes (which, by the way, is a bonus episode exclusive to Djuna Club members); and, an episode about the author Marion Zimmer Bradley and the mixed feelings I have about her as a person versus her work. In the next month or so, I hope to produce a podcast/video of one of my episodes. We'll see what happens, eh?
