I am building Ebenezer, an app for writing down single things God has done and stacking them, over a lifetime, into one altar.

Why

God has already been good to you. He answered something. He provided. He spoke, and you knew it was Him. Then the week turned over, and by spring you could not have told anyone what He did.

That is the thing I could not get past. Not that God is silent, but that I forget. Scripture treats this as the ordinary danger. "Forget not all His benefits" is written as a command to one's own soul, which tells you how easily the soul does forget. Israel did not drift because God stopped acting. They drifted because they stopped remembering.

So God kept telling His people to build things. Twelve stones out of the Jordan. A feast every year. A jar of manna in the ark. Samuel took a stone, set it up, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, "Thus far the LORD has helped us." Not a boast about the battle. A mark on the ground where help arrived.

Ebenezer is that, for one believer, on a phone.

What I am building

Each thing God did goes down as a stone. Scripture that found you, a dream, a vision, something said by another believer, a circumstance that could not have been arranged, or the gentle whisper after the wind and the fire. Write it, or speak it and keep the recording. The stones stack into an altar in the order you laid them. A year in, it is something you can stand in front of and read. Ten years in, it is the account of a life.

The whole Bible sits in the app, offline. Write a reference in a stone and it becomes a link, so months later the chapter opens with your own verse marked. Quiet Time is a room with the door shut, Scripture open and nowhere else to be.

What it refuses

No cloud by default. What passes between you and God stays on your device unless you deliberately turn sync on.

No AI. Nothing here writes, suggests or paraphrases spiritual content. The app only holds back up what He gave you.

No streaks, no badges, no scores. A walk with God is not a contest.

No ads, nothing sold, nobody tracked.

Where it is going

Finish the first build, get it into the hands of believers who will tell me what is wrong with it.

The web altar, so the same stones are reachable from anything with a browser.

More translations of the bundled Bible. The language you met God in is the language you should read Him in.

Never a subscription for the part that matters. Remembering is not a premium feature.

Where the coffee goes

Ebenezer is free and I mean to keep it that way, which means it is paid for by people who decide it is worth keeping that way. A coffee covers the unglamorous half. The servers, the Bible data, the developer account, the hours after work.

It also buys the right to be stubborn. Nothing on the refusals list gets traded away later for a revenue model.
