Continuing the series of little atmospheric lyric videos, featuring excerpts of songs from my LIVE Honeytone Sessions Album and my Smoke EP, this song is my story of love as a power of redemption and transformation.... a 'magic elixir, broken heart fixer'.

I had the title and concept of alchemy as a theme in a flash of inspiration and then wrote most of the key lines while sitting on a fire-escape outside my bedroom window. This seemed somehow apt as I was contemplating how I felt less and less trapped in the dark despair of my past.

Like the classic Nat King Cole song 'Nature Boy'... the elixir was learning to love... and be loved in return.

Lyrics:

A melancholy reckoning
I stare into the well
Poisoned water beckoning
What would happen if I fell

Somehow you awaken me
Pull me back from the abyss

There’s some kind of alchemy in the way that you kiss
It casts a kind of spell on me and all I know is this
There’s some kind of alchemy in the way that you kiss

Tiptoe through the tombstones
A graveyard in my head
I could grieve forever
The child in me is dead

But you give me love to live for
Bring me back to life instead

There’s some kind of alchemy in the way that you kiss
Some necromantic sorcery this metamorphosis
There’s some kind of alchemy in the way that you kiss

A magic elixir broken heart fixer
Something just like fairy dust
Has turned this heart of lead and rust to gold

Oh there must be
Some kind of alchemy in the way that you kiss
It casts a kind of spell on me and all I know is this
There’s some kind of alchemy in the way that you kiss me

There’s some kind of alchemy in the way that you kiss me
