Enoch - One Who KNEW

Enoch - One Who KNEW

Aug 24, 2022

When reading of the pre-flood patriarchs, one stands out to me. Enoch. Enoch was the guy we learned about in Sunday school because he didn't die. Scripture says he walked with God, then he "was not", because God took him. Whoa!

Gen 5:21-24  And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:  (22)  And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:  (23)  And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:  (24)  And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

Enoch walked the earth for 365 years. A year of years. Significant? I think so! You see, 365 days marks a solar year. It takes that long for the earth to make a complete trip around the sun. That Enoch lived for 365 years suggests that his life revolved around the "son". More than anyone else of that era, Enoch knew that there was only one way to live - dedicated completely to God. He knew it to point of de-materialization. Moving to the figurative, if we keep our focus on Jesus long enough, pretty soon we begin to disappear. The flesh yields to the Spirit.

Many believe Enoch personified the church. I hope so. But to me, that implies that the church should be so dedicated. There's no room for Sunday-only Christianity. Do we really revolve around the son? It is easy to say "I'm a Christian", but much more difficult sometimes to live it.
