While I was going through my journals looking for sketches and things for the 30th anniversary of the Hope album, a folded piece of paper slid out in front of me. At first, I thought it was nothing more than studio notes or something. A closer inspection found me somewhat inspired and grateful. What you are looking at below is the literal list of Abox gigs from the time I first played out (The Springburn Manor in late 1986) to the first show coming back to NJ's Pipeline as a homecoming in 1990. The list shows all the shows that led up to the first Anything Box album, Peace being released.
I was thrilled, for example, to have the date Abox played CBGBs (Feb. 20th, 1989). There was no real representation of this before. There was a flyer, I'm sure, and I must have had a copy to have listed this on the sheet, which is, in my estimate, to be from 1991 or so. I must have sat down with all the flyers and done it. These would have been lost in the early 2000s due to a flood in the studio that destroyed my old nostalgic folders where I kept them.
The list even details when my first official bandmate, Carlos and I, parted ways, and documents the first show with Dania and Mike at the Loop Lounge on July 27th, 1988. And... The show at the Red Onion in California with Paul in the band where we used my old Reel-to-reel as the backing unit. Pretty cool. And lastly, the last show on the list was the first Houston show with Red Flag on November 26th, 1989, months before Peace would be released.
