Hey šš¾, Iām Tomesha (Tuh-Me-Sha), the writer behind the Enhance Black Womenās Health (EBWH) Community, where a weekly newsletter breaking down complex health information into clear, actionable steps you (or your clients) can implement to feel at home in your body again. Whether youāre navigating an autoimmune disease or youāre supporting clients with chronic conditions, know that youāre welcome here.
So, pull up a chair. Thereās water on the stove for tea and banana muffins fresh out of the oven. (Egg-free, of course, because⦠allergies!) š¤§
Thereās a lot that Iām passionate about. Here, my primary mission is to help women with autoimmune conditions identify their personal triggers, reduce flare-ups, and feel like themselves again. I do that by utilizing my professional training as a nutrition coach, coupled with my lived experience navigating rheumatoid arthritis, Sjƶgrenās syndrome, and pericentral retinal pigmentosa.
In other words, I collect chronic conditions, like some collect PokƩmon, which is why my approach to health is about creating spaces where women - especially Black women - feel embraced rather than dismissed.
Every community blends lived experience with practical strategies that you can use to finally make sense of what your body has been trying to tell you. This goes beyond ādo this, not thatā and creates space for honest conversations about womenās health, especially the experiences too often dismissed for Black women. This isnāt about pushing through or guessing your way forward, but understanding your body so you know what to do next.
Subscribe and get evidence-informed approaches to support your health and wellbeing, once per week.
This work isnāt just professional, but personal.
After being dismissed by my doctors and told my (undiagnosed autoimmune) symptoms were simply due to her weight, I utilized my training as a NESTA Certified Fitness Nutrition Coach and Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certified Coach to support my health without following a restrictive diet or one-size-fits-all plans.
Through trial and error, coupled with additional training as a Precision Nutrition Level 2 Master Coach and AIP Certified Coach 2 Master Coach, Iāve developed a simple strategy that has helped me understand my body, identify my triggers, and build a way of eating that actually works for me.
With the EBWH Community, I help other women do the same!
