The reason I paint

The reason I paint

Jan 29, 2021

As a kid I always was interested in drawing. I used to spend time watching everything surrounding me. I certainly had a very vivid imagination and used it in many different ways. I started at a very young age creating a variety of comics. At school those comics I called them "My Novel stories". Those comics had a brief story and they used to always follow with a "to be continued..." I sell them for .25 cents a piece. That was enough for getting some of my favorite candy in a little store nearby my elementary school. Those where the good old days...

Time passed by very quickly and years forward I was investing my mind in formal studies and all of that vivid imagination and creativity was pulled on hold. I happily graduated! Yay! After that marriage and then kids...Oh wow! Two wonderful blessings GOD gave me! Before of my kids I had a season of pain and sorrow because of miscarriages but in that season GOD helped me and even in that season I had a chance to see a glance of what HE had in store for me... Many good things.

I though my years of creating where over when I started a family but I was in for a surprise...They weren't!

One day my kiddo wanted to paint and I let him freely do so. Since he was 2 yrs old without any help he started his own creative journey. Momma, was impressed, so impressed that I tried to look for some type of tutorials to helped him with techniques but he had his own style and wasn't willing to change it or accept any help ( I love his determination and strong will). What I got from this was that I spended days watching the tutorials, until one day I said: " let me try this myself..." I did and let me tell you that it was like I finally found a way to let all my creative juices flowing again.

This thing called painting has become an outlet to express once again my creativity freely and it let's me overflow with joy each time I do it. I enjoy that in my artistic path I rediscover that little girl with a vivid imagination.

And that my friends is the reason I paint... I paint because my kids are my motivation and life itself is a blank page waiting for me and you to write a story full of purpose, and those stories can become cherish memories for future generations. If you are an artist or a creator what is your reason behind your creations? Share then with me...

Below you can see the most recent abstract painting of my 5 yr old son. I definitely had to share this one with you. I am a proud momma of both of my kids.
