Sacrifices of Righteousness

Sacrifices of Righteousness

Feb 10, 2021

I've been having a hard time lately. I'm positive I'm not the only one. I feel drained frustrated and at times like giving up. Not on life but on trying. Trying to parent, trying to work, trying to find joy in doing things. I'm tried, and today I did what I knew I should. I prayed. God is there to carry our burdens and to care for us. I'm still tired but I feel like it's easier now.

Then I opened the word and read from Psalms 4:1-5
"Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! Thou hast relieved me in my distress; be gracious to me and hear my prayer.

O sons of men, how long will my honor become a reproach? How long will you love what is worthless and aim at deception?

But know that the Lord has set apart the godly man for Himself; The Lord hears when I call to Him.

Tremble, and do not sin; Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and trust in the Lord."

The part that stood out to me was the end. Meditate in your heart upon your bed and be still. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness and trust in the Lord.

There can be two ways to consider this passage. One is that he is meditating to avoid sin. But to me, we meditate on the Word to help us keep right in our thoughts and to believe in what God says. This is offering a sacrifice of righteousness.

We are righteous by faith, this is how we are to live. Beliving in God, not believing in our own actions. It's hard to live in faith sometimes difficult to trust the Lord and to keep our mind on what He says rather than what we feel, or see. Our thoughts control our actions and when we meditate on the Word or what God says, we can change how we think and eventually our actions change.

This is how we are righteous. Trust God and focus on Him. When we feel bad or negative, it is a sacrifice to believe what God says more than our own feelings and thoughts.

Today take a break don't be so hard on yourself and remember God hasn't forgotten you.
