Let me tell you about my friend, Stacey.

Let me tell you about my friend, Stacey.

Apr 27, 2021

Stacey is a beginner screenwriter, always beating herself up because she believed her writing was mediocre. She struggled with the overwhelm of storytelling, felt powerless in her writing rhythm, and was scared to connect with her inner creativity.

Initially, Stacey did try to wrap her head around storytelling on her own. It worked for a while but then it didn’t. This made her feel more and more embarrassed and uncertain about the craft and her skill as a screenwriter.

So, I gave her a couple of things to think about like, perhaps getting a storytelling coach that will understand what she’s been going through, someone who could help her build and analyze her work and help get back her identity as a storyteller. A writing pal who is sensitive like she was, and won’t be too critical. Someone who will not talk down to her.

Obviously, I offered to be that person. Eek!

When I sat down with Stacey, and it only took one or two, 1-on-1 sessions via zoom for her to discover the supportive environment she was in, Stacey could feel her anxiety over screenwriting dissipate. And now, because of just a few sessions with me, Stacey is free from any overwhelm, the insecurities around her creativity are gone. She’s adopted a new, positive mindset which allowed her to write at a much higher level and complete an incredible entertaining screenplay she is proud of.

Is the story you’re telling yourself about your writing similar to Stacey’s?

Leave me a comment, or hit me up with a DM, and let’s start a dialogue.

PS - I know you very well and I know that a customized plan specific to your storytelling needs is what you require to write captivating stories everybody will love and finally keep your overwhelm away.
