It's best if we don't employ friends, family, or the people that hold kompromat upon us - especially in the Grand Game of software engineering. And this is not just because it makes us look stupid and nepotistic, but also because the people who try to muscle in through the stage door are often the most inept, anti-social, and chaotic people possible too.
