Out of commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our staff, artists and community, Central City Opera has made the difficult decision to postpone the 2020 Festival until 2021 due to ongoing health concerns caused by COVID-19. We believe the decision is in the best interest of all involved and look forward to singing extraordinary stories again soon. We will be contacting all of our 2020 ticket holders directly with options including converting to donation, exchange for 2021 or a full refund. In addition, we have established the CCO COVID-19 Relief Fund to support our 2020 Festival company and Central City Opera during this challenging time.

Please accept our warmest wishes for a music-filled, happy and healthy new year.

We are doing our utmost to bring back our special brand of live music to Bear Valley as soon as it is safe to do so. Meanwhile, we will keep you posted on our progress on this website and in our monthly eNewsletter (click here to subscribe).

As we reflect on the challenges of the past year, we are reminded of the many storms our Festival has weathered over the decades. Yet through it all, our patrons and donors have somehow brought us back year after year. No one tells the Festival’s story better than our local newsman Eric Jung in his piece titled Gypsy Caravan, originally published to commemorate our 50th anniversary in 2018.

Following a season without concerts or ticket sales, we are especially grateful to the donors whose gifts have not only helped us through these months, but also paved the way for the next Bear Valley Music Festival. From the bottom of our hearts — thank you!

Rest assured the Festival is in a solid position built on 52 years of support from the community, volunteers and our faithful donors. We will move forward with strength and resolve that better days are ahead. The 2021 festival has been scheduled for July 23-August 8, 2021, and, when we all gather again under the big white tent, it will be an especially sweet celebration.

With our best wishes for your health and wellbeing,

The Board and Staff of the Bear Valley Music Festival

The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra was formed in 1992 (as the Northern Kentucky Symphony) with a mission to make classical music attractive, accessible and affordable to people in the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati area. Since its inception, the KSO has demonstrated a unique ability to make the concert experience relevant and entertaining to its audiences while maintaining high performance standards and integrity.

Each KSO program contains both familiar and unique repertoire presented in a thematic context that is compelling and entertaining. Through the years, KSO concerts have offered many surprises including silent films, dancers, comedians, zoo animals, alternative, rock and complete operas and musicals, country bands, a limbo contest, aerobic classes, poetry readings, Civil War battle re-enactments and more.

The KSO has also collaborated with local arts organizations such as the Cincinnati Opera, Cincinnati Ballet, the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, Playhouse in the Park, the Taft Museum and community institutions such as the Cincinnati Observatory and Kentucky National Guard to name but a few.

For nearly 28 years The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra has taken the “phony” out of symphony through live thematic concerts that culturally enrich, educate and entertain the residents of Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati. The KSO performs throughout Northern Kentucky with three series of concerts; Summer Series in Devou Park (July- September), Free Education/Outreach concerts (October – March), and an affordably priced Subscription Series (5 programs held October-May).
