lone wolf

Jan 06, 2023

I sat at the bar, staring at the group of young people huddled around their phones, completely oblivious to the world around them. I couldn't believe how passive this generation had become, how unwilling they were to stand up and make their voices heard.

Gone were the days of protests and marches, of fighting for what you believed in. Nowadays, it seemed like all anyone cared about was getting likes on their social media profiles and living vicariously through their screens.

I remember when I was their age, how alive I felt, and how ready I was to take on the world. But these kids seemed content to just sit back and let things happen to them, to be swept along by the currents of society without ever making a splash of their own.

I took a sip of my drink. Maybe I am just getting old and jaded, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something is seriously wrong with the world. The younger generation was supposed to be the future, but how could they hope to make a difference if they were too afraid to even lift their heads up from their phones?

I stood up from the bar, tossing a few euros on the counter as I left. I had always been a bit of a lone wolf, never one to follow the crowd. And maybe that was the problem with the world today, I thought as I stepped out into the night. Maybe we all just need to be a little more like lone wolves and not be afraid to live our lives on our own terms.
