Gutsy Radio does more with less. Our budget reflects this efficiency and economy being most important. All of our DJs, board members, and the station manager are volunteers. That said, there are some inevitable and fixed costs of running an online radio station.
First, we pay our broadcasting service a monthly fee for us to deliver radio to you. To provide options for how to listen, we pay additional monthly fees for our iPhone and Android app. This is 20% of our total budget.
Second, we pay licensing bodies to allow us to broadcast copyrighted works of music and other recorded works. This is a significant expense for a small, volunteer based internet radio station and 75% of our total budget.
Finally, promotional items and online shop fees are 5% of our total budget.
How do we pay for all of this? All of our funds come from our community of listeners and broadcasters through donations. We also earn a little off our station branded merchandise.
By donating you are directly supporting the mission and operation of Gutsy Radio. All contributions fund the expenses of the station.
