Black Girl Joy

Black Girl Joy

Feb 18, 2023

I wear my smile like fulfilled prophesies

I see GOD at work in me

Mmm

I got my grandmothers hands the kind that raise

nations from rubble

Pillars of hope I lean on when the smoke and mirrors cast reflections dulled by doubt

These eyes

These eyes recognize kindred spirits

Unwavering loyalty

I remain in a constant state of bliss

I am the blueprint

That I am

Hovering above calm waters

I speak peace into generations come until my voice echoes victorious

Call on me child

I’m the ancestor that’ll raise you by your soul

Resilience is built into our DNA gifted to those who can face their fate with faith

Regardless of the stakes
