Knights Bring Bedford Blues

Feb 06, 2022

Not quite Knights rampant but certainly a great day for this remarkable squad as it notched up another famous victory, this time against a strong Bedford side. Following a relatively quiet first half with its solitary converted try, the Knights really forged ahead in the second forty, comfortably absorbing any visitor pressure, emerging 24 points to the good with none against at the final whistle. Massive congratulations to all concerned. Look to the Knights’ website for a more detailed report.

ickledot’s memories of the game:

  • the weather was better than forecast. One of the excellent stewards looked on his app for me and the forecast was 100% for rain. There were a few splashes but mostly it stayed dry. Quite a surprise as it had rained all morning in West Yorkshire (it was still raining on the return trip). The old east-west divide worked well once more.

  • was pleased to have captured two of the three tries quite well. With the first there was a defender blocking scorer Billy McBryde (above) from my view. He was injured during the play but recovered well enough to score again in the second half. What a hero!

  • the Knights really move rapidly across the field from left to right when on the attack. Little wonder many defences are finding it difficult stopping them - it’s hard enough just taking photos.

You can see more photos from the game here.
