As some of the pictures will show, there was a relaxed, summery feel to the atmosphere as Leeds Beckett II lined up against opponents Loughborough. Given the final result, a bit too relaxed, some of the coaches might have said. A tad cruel perhaps as ickledot has no idea of the relative strengths of the two teams before kick off.
Beckett began brightly, scoring first before the visitors went up a gear or two. When they did, their recovery was significant. Though Beckett continued to add to the scoreline, Loughborough did so more regularly, building a healthy lead by half time. The pattern continued into the second forty.
Speaking of scorelines, Beckett have a new electronic scoreboard, complete with clock. This will be extremely useful and informative next season. Yesterday it seemed to be experiencing teething troubles, illuminated but showing a tally that bore no resemblance to the actual score.
The afternoon became sunny and warm, making it a very pleasant way of bringing the season to a close.
