Wasn’t easy but Leeds Tykes won handsomely yesterday. It was a big plus to see them on the front foot right from kick off, as opposed to being a couple of scores down in the first few minutes. This time Tykes were first to touch down.
It was somewhat unfamiliar territory for Tykes to be 27-14 ahead at half time. Visitors Plymouth Albion set about narrowing the gap in the second forty and were able to bring the difference to within a score. However, Tykes chipped away with a try from Jake Brady and wound down the clock by setting up camp on the Albion try line. The afternoon was topped off with a try on the left from Harry Jukes in the last play of the game. Symmetry for him as he’d bagged one on the right in the first half.
A bit of symmetry for ickledot too as he’d missed the first try through a lens choice malfunction and he missed the last as the Albion support staff blocked his view (not intentionally of course; they had a job to do). Otherwise it was a great afternoon photographically and he managed to capture several others along with some key dramatic action. You can see them all here.
Great to briefly catch up up with Plymouth’s Alex Ducker (not looking too happy below, sorry), bringing back memories of ickledot’s epic England Counties tour to Georgia in 2019.
