In Feb this year, I asked folks on my Instagram:
What measures do you take so they don't abandon you?
Me: 'If they need you, they won't leave you,' that seems stuck in my head. Also being useful makes me feel so validated. So I give like a Dariya dil. And then when someone keeps taking, I self righteously diss them. Ever heard of giving back, you shameless person?
Mostly,I need to feel like I'm of use and that person is only fulfilling that need. As I give, I want security from them that they will give me a little of (which keeps me going for long) and never leave me.
