Apologies for the delay in posting, but my results from the Australian Music Examination Board came back for my Certificate of Performance practical exam - and I earned High Distinction.
I had a very strong suspicion I passed, but I had no idea with this result. While I know I worked very hard, I remember walking away with numerous small things that I could have done better. Nonetheless, I should celebrate the victories when they come - and I can definitely say I put in the effort unlike with many other past performances.
My current teacher and I are going to continue on towards the AMusA diploma - which is mostly the same format, only more challenging repertoire and higher standards. However, achieving this result with the Certificate instills a certain level of confidence that with dedication and discipline, I should do well.
The overall plans for the next few months:
Work on a random backlog of pieces that I've been meaning to play/resurrect.
Work on improving technique that will be useful in more challenging pieces and for the AMusA exam.
Begin working on music theory. Music theory never was a part of my previous studies in the US.
After a few months, use the AMusA syllabus to create a suitable programme of music - and then begin preparing for the practical exam.
